Academic research in all areas of scholarship pushes the frontiers of human knowledge. The fundamental process of discovery provides us with a deeper understanding of the world  and its cultural, social, natural and engineered systems. This new knowledge benefits our students and the world.

The Office of Research provides leadership, education and oversight to support world-class, scholarly investigation at UC Merced. The Office of Research is responsible for:

In addition, we share in the responsibility of
 

participating in discussions on research policy at the local, state and national levels, representing the University to external research sponsors, communicating about UC Merced’s research to the university and the public, developing research opportunities for the faculty, staff and students, providing matching funds for grant proposals.
