Accelerators, Incubators, Entrepreneurship Centers, and Small Business Development Centers for Regenerative Agriculture Initiatives
I. Overview
The University of California Merced Office of Research and Economic Development (UCM ORED) is seeking expressions of interest from accelerators, incubators, entrepreneurship centers, and small business development centers to partner on regenerative agriculture initiatives. This call aims to identify potential partners who can provide support, resources, and expertise to help cultivate innovative startups and projects focused on sustainable agricultural practices that can contribute positively to the Central Valley’s economic development and ecological health.
II. Background
Regenerative agriculture is a transformative approach to farming and food systems that enhances soil health, conserves water, increases biodiversity, and restores ecosystem services. ORED is eager to partner with organizations specializing in startup growth and development to accelerate the adoption of these practices through innovative business models and cutting-edge agricultural technologies.
III. Project Goals
1. Innovation in Agriculture: To foster solutions that improve soil health, water usage, crop diversity, and farmer well-being in the Central Valley.
2. Economic Development: To support agri-tech startups and new ventures that embrace regenerative practices, stimulating local economic growth.
3. Educational Outreach: To collaborate on workshops, seminars, and training programs that educate entrepreneurs about regenerative agriculture.
IV. Partner Expectations
• Resource Provision: Partners should provide resources such as funding, mentorship, technical expertise, or operational support to emerging businesses.
• Program Development: Demonstrated experience in developing and managing programs that support the growth of startups, including hosting networking events, pitch sessions, and investor meetups.
• Community Engagement: Strong connections with local and regional agricultural communities, with a proven ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
